IPL 2024 Auction Players List

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league that is held annually in India. The league is contested by ten city-based franchise teams. The upcoming season is IPL 2024, which is expected to be even more spectacular than previous seasons.

IPL 2024 is likely to start on March 22, 2024, and end by May 2024. The final schedule will be announced once the polling dates for India’s general elections have been confirmed.

IPL 2024 Auction

The IPL 2024 auction took place in Dubai on December 19, 2023. Each of the 10 IPL teams operated under a salary cap of INR 100 crore for the 2024 season.
The total player pool for the auction was 333 players, with a maximum of 77 slots available to be filled by the 10 franchises. Of these, 30 were overseas players. There were a total of 214 Indian players, and 119 overseas – including two from Associate nations. There were 116 capped players and 215 uncapped with two from Associate nations.
The auction purse for each team was determined based on the list of players they retained and released. The highest reserve price was INR 2 crores, with 23 players choosing to be slotted in the highest bracket. 13 players were in the auction list with a base price of INR 1.5 crores.

IPL 2024 Format and Structure

The tournament will be played in its regular “Home and Away” format.

  • Format: The tournament will follow a round-robin format in the group stage, where each team will play each other twice. The top four teams at the end of the group stage will progress to the playoffs.
  • Playoffs: The playoffs will consist of two Qualifier matches and one Eliminator match, leading up to the grand final where the champion of IPL 2024 will be crowned.
  • Matches: A total of 74 matches will be played during the tournament.
